James Gosse had a waterwheel mill located between Long Beach and Queen’s Cove but first it was located close to the Wanda Garrett’s house in Long Beach. James Gosse also had a saw mill on the beach in the area to the right hand side of the steps that currently go up to Leslie and Grace (Vey) Dean’s property.
Dan Vey had a saw mill on the beach, in the area in behind John and Dorothy Vey’s house.
Alfred Vey and sons (William James, Simeon, Alfred John and Herbert John) had a saw mill in the area of where Will Vey’s house is located.
Simeon and Herbert Vey had a water mill in the brook just down from Gord Vey’s house.
Lou Allan Barfitt had a watermill on Barfitt’s Brook. The Barfitts also had a saw mill on the piece of land at the top of the hill across the road from St. Mark’s Anglican Church.
Calvin Lambert had a saw mill at the end of the main path.
George Shirley Vey and his sons had a water mill and saw mill on Vey’s Brook in front of where his grandson’s (Laurence and Myra (Brooks) Vey) house is currently located. Alfred (Ted) Vey and sons owned a saw mill in on the back of Ted’s house – in on the bog.
The Avery’s had a water mill in the area of Foxy Rocks. They also had a saw mill at the top of the hill when you are leaving Long Beach, around the area where Gary Bursey now has his business.
