COOMBS, Audrey [nee Bonner] – Passed peacefully away on Saturday, October 24, 2009 in St. Johns after a brief battle with cancer. Born in St. Johns on March 25, 1929 to Doris and Alfred Bonner, Audrey was the youngest child who prematurely lost her beloved brothers Eric in 1937 and Gerald in 1971. She attended Bishop Spencer College, Memorial College and Acadia University. She cared for her aging parents and her own family and also worked for MCP prior to retirement. Audrey was much loved and cherished by her surviving family which includes: her children: Allynne (Dr. Gordon Jones) in Palm Coast, Florida, Karen (Bert Scheepers) in Delta, Ont. and Eric (Marie Walsh) in Mount Pearl; her precious niece Eleanor (Larry Maisonneuve) in Ottawa; her grandchildren Andrea Totten (Kyle) in Palm Coast, Dr. Christopher Jones in Philadelphia, Timothy Jones (fiance Estrella) in Boston; Andrew, Luke, Benjamin and Liam Coombs in Mount Pearl, and her special grandnephew Kyle Maisonneuve in Ottawa. Audrey was predeceased by her beloved husband Lester Ghandi Coombs in 2004 with whom she shared over 50 years of happy marriage. Upon retirement they summered in St. Johns and wintered in Ft. Myers, Florida for more than 25 years. Resting at Carnells Funeral Home, 1045 Topsail Road. GRANDY, Harold Brazil  – Born Aug. 10, 1918 in Garnish, Newfoundland, formerly of St. John‘s, Nfld. and Edmonton, Alta. Died peacefully in Victoria, B.C., June 19, 2002, surrounded by his family. Harold is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Doris; his daughters: Ruth (Ken) Sutherland of Edmonton and Robin (Ross) Breckon of Victoria; and his devoted granddaughters: Jenny, Karen and Kate Breckon. He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews and many dear friends. Predeceased by his daughter Amelia, 1944, brother Fredrick, 1999. Left with fond and loving memories, his wife Gertie, of 60 years; seven sons: Wilson (Sylvia), Brampton, Ont., Cyril (Glenys), Queens Cove, Clarence (Nellie), Pasadena, Everett (Sandra), Brampton, Ont., Max, Toronto, Ont., Raymond (Bonnie), Clarenville, Rex (Donna), Random Island; twelve grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a large number of relatives and friends. THOMAS, Cyril – It is with great sadness the family of the late Cyril Thomas, age 82 announce his peaceful passing in the presence of his loving wife at the Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville, on Nov 2, 2003. Predeceased by his son, Willis; grandson, Jody; and sister, Ella Stringer. Leaving to mourn after 61 years of marriage, his wife, Ethel; children, Doug (Ruth), Ron (Greta), Ella (Jim Peddle), Geraldine (Winston Avery), Patsy (Richard Goobie) and Ethel (Don Seaward); 15 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; plus many other relatives and friends. Predeceased by daughter Marion Morris (Feb. 1995) & husband Cecil (May 1995). Ollie leaves behind one son, Hedley (Barbara), Hillview, daughter Anita Smith (Victor), St. John’s, daughter Loretta Gosse, Kilbride, & son-in-law Bruce Morris, Goobies. She also leaves one sister, Mary Avery of Deep Bight, along with numerous step-sisters & brothers. Her eight grandchildren are Barbara, Diane, Jeff, Cindy, Gail, Cheryl, Jackie & Joanne, as well as seven great-grandchildren: Simone, Charlotte, Jaime, Emily, Lori, Spencer & Jill.
