AVERY, Dinah Ann – (September 14, 1943 – March 24, 2016) – Passed away at the Carbonear General Hospital on March 24, 2016, Dinah Ann Avery, age 72 from Long Beach. Dinah leaves to mourn her sons, Theodore (Tracey), Brian and Conrad; brothers, Eric (Barb), Ken (Gina), Howard; sisters, Alice (Clarence) and Doris (Maxwell) and a large circle of nephews, nieces and relatives and friends. Rested at St. Mark’s Anglican Church, Long Beach on Friday, March 25, 2016. Funeral service, officiated by Rev. Brian Hannon, took place on Saturday, March 26, 2016 at 2 pm with interment following at the United Church Cemetery, Long Beach.

AVERY, Shawn Christopher – (May 16, 1968 – December 25, 2016) – Passed peacefully away, surrounded by his loving family, Christopher Shawn Avery, age 48, at the Dr. G.B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville on December 25, 2016. Leaving to mourn with many fond and loving memories are his wife, Florence; son Dylan (Megan), grand daughter, Madison; parents, Ewart and Ethel; sister, Sharon (Clayton); brother, Brian (Vera); aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends. Funeral service,officiated by Rev. Issac Hutchings,  took place on Thursday, December 29, 2016, 2pm at the Anglican Church, Bunyan’s Cove, with interment following. No flowers by request.

DEAN, Simeon – Born: February 16th, 1924. Passed on: February 19th, 2016. Passed peacefully away on February 19, 2016, Simeon Dean of North West Brook, Trinity Bay and a former resident of Southport, Trinity Bay, at the age of 92 years. Predeceased by his wife Annie on February 26, 2000, and by his parents Thomas and Jessie (Dalton) Dean; brothers Alexander, Arthur, Charles, and infant brother William James; sisters Grace, Rose Pardy, Amelia Pelly, and infant sister Mary Caroline. Leaving to mourn with many cherished memories are daughters Sandra (Everett) Soper, Rose Viola (Gerald) Andrews; sons Eli (Marion), Leslie (Grace), Melvin (Ivy), Terry and Robert (Angie); fourteen grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchild. He also leaves to mourn a large circle of extended family members and friends. Rested at Emmanuel United Church, North West Brook, with funeral service Monday, February 22, at 2 p.m. officiated by Rev. Gneid Walsh. DRODGE, Emma J. (Avery) – Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Centre in St. John’s on Wednesday, December 21, 2016, Emma J. Drodge of Caplin Cove, aged 86 years and 11 months. Predeceased by husband Clifford; parents Alfred and Sarah Avery; sister Emily Pitcher (Luke); brothers Chester (Yvonne), Wilson; sister-in-law Daphne Young; brothers-in-law William Drodge, Ray Squires and Stan Drodge. Left with fond and loving memories her sister Eva Best (Noah); sisters-in-law Rachel Drodge, Ann Squires, Audrey Drodge; brother-in-law Calvin Young; niece Christine (Howard Stringer) and a large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Resting at Fewer’s Funeral Home, Little Heart’s Ease on Sunday, December 25, 2016 from 3-9 pm and on Monday, December 26, 2016 from 10 am – 9 pm. DRODGE, Melvie (nee Whalen), formerly of Little Heart’s Ease, NL – Passed away at Toronto Grace Hospital, March 18, 2016, after a courageous 20 year battle with cancer, aged 81 years. Predeceased by husband Roy, son Derrick Roy, daughter Sharon Lynn, brothers Lawrence and Eldon (Polly), brothers-in-law Allan and Gerald. Left with fond and loving memories, son Brad (Debbie Sue), Fort McMurray, AB, daughter Deborah (Jerry), Toronto, ON, son Tim (Crystal), Toronto, ON, granddaughters Lacy (Ricky), Fort St. John, BC, Kali (Mike), Mount Pearl, NL, sisters Minnie, Ivy (Ronald), Eva and Evelyn (Aiden), brothers Walter (Annie), Maxwell (Marilyn) and Rex (Brenda). A service of remembrance and celebration of Melvie’s life will take place August 2016 in Little Heart’s Ease, NL, where she will be laid to rest next to her husband.
