The route was developed by the Deer Harbour trail committee and all fundraising efforts went towards their project in Seward’s name.

Snowmobile run held with memorial for Max Seward

Earlier this month, while dodging some dodgy weather, the people of Southwest Arm went ahead with their memorial snowmobile run on the Deer Harbour trail.

Originally scheduled for the end of January, the run had to be changed because of a snowstorm on the east coast of Newfoundland.
The run was held on Saturday, Feb. 13.
The trail is being developed to ensure there is a more reliable route by land to Upper Deer Harbour in Trinity Bay. Often people visit their cabins by boat and may need an emergency path by land in case it is too windy by sea.
The commemoration was to remember Max Seward who worked on the trail.
The ride saw a great turnout with 108 people coming out over 73 separate machines.
In turn, thanks to the generosity of local people about $2,000 was raised in memory of Seward for the Deer Harbour Trail committee who are further developing and maintaining the route.
