Things are steadily pushing along at the Southwest Arm Historical Society. There is a tremendous amount of history to be uncovered and to be told through stories, photos, historical church documents, newspapers, etc.. It is impossible for a few volunteers to search and be able to write this history. Our group is always looking for information and encourages everyone with a photo, story, newspaper article, etc., to contacts us.

We have a huge number of historical photos of schooners that once sailed the waters of Random, Labrador, Southern Shore and beyond that were donated by members of our society and people around the Southwest Arm region. Check out the story about the loss of the schooner Edward V11 and how its crew drifted 9 days on the Atlantic before being rescued by a Danish freighter.  Also, you will find fishery documents, fishery stories, list and photos of  schooners, photos of Labrador and photos of the fishery. Check these out at  http://swahsociety.com/lifestyle/boat-building/photos-of-schooners-and-other-vessels.

If you have a photo of a schooner or articles related to this fishery, contact us and allow others to view it. You may be aware of someone who pursued this fishery that we could visit and interview. This would allow the information to be recorded for preservation of future generations of Southwest Arm.
