Update on War Memorial Site

The War Memorial Committee is pleased to announce the following update:
 
Canada Post has now removed the mailboxes that were in front of the war memorial site to a new location. This removal allows the site to be easily seen by traffic traveling from the communities below Hodge’s Cove. It allows individuals who visit the site to take photos for memento purposes to show relatives that are unable to visit this site.
 
As can be seen in the photos, the only obstacle taking from the beauty of this site is the power pole. This pole will be removed in the near future.
 
Family Memorial, contractors for the monument will be visiting within days to begin the process of placing the concrete platform for the monument and flagpoles.
 
Thanks to all who have donated. However, donations have slowed to a turtle’s pace and we encourage all who planned to donate but have to do so as soon as possible. This will allow all bills to be paid and we can have a fitting tribute to all who served debt-free.
