 20150912_140017  Lead Dappers owned by William Green, Little Heart’s Ease. These lead dappers were used by William Green to catch fish with baited hook of squid or caplin. The dapper was used to quickly sink the hook when cod fish were hungry for bait.

 20150912_135853  Lobster spring and measurement owned by William Green of Little Heart’s Ease. These two instruments were used in the lobster fishery by William Green. The measurement was used to determine if the lobster caught was legal size.

 20150912_135828  Chaulking iron and mallet owned by William Green, Little Heart’s Ease. The iron and mallet would be used to force oakum into the seams of wooden boats to make the boat water tight. The iron would be placed over the oakum and the mallet would be struck against the head of the iron to force the oakum into the seams to seal the bottom of the boat from water.

 20150912_135802   Twine needle owned by William Green, Little Heart’s Ease. This wooden twine needle was used by William to knit twine, mend traps and make lobster headers during his fishing career.
 20150912_135747  Boom attachment owned by William Green, Little Heart’s Ease. This item was used to attach the boom of a schooner to a thimble on block and tackle so that it might be raised or lowered on a ship.
 IMG1_4412  Compass – approximately 50+ years originally owned by Clarence Smith. It is now owned by Clarence’s son, Duane Smith.
 DSCN4231 Samuel Smith (1909-1967) made a number of model schooners for his nephews. He was building this model schooner for his grandson but Samuel passed away before it was finished. It is now owned by his son, Calvin Smith.
