AVERY, Clyde Daryl – It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Clyde Avery, age 60, at his residence, Hillview on March 8, 2021. Predeceased by Donald and Mildred Avery; brothers, Frederick and Clifford and nephew, Mitchell. AVERY, Eldred – Passed peacefully away at the Dr. G.B. Cross Memorial Hospital on September 29, 2021, Eldred Avery, aged 82 years. Predeceased by his wife Jean (Smith), his parents William and Susie Avery, his sister Maxine Soucy. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his children, Edison (Chris), Maxine (Craig), Corinne (Dennis); brothers, Wilson Avery (Beulah), David Stoyles (Hazel); grandchildren, Justina, Jarod, Christoper (Alanna), Jordan (Erin), Cole (Tabatha); great grandchildren Taylor, James and Sallie-Jean. Special mention of his sister-in-law June Whalen who with her daily calls helped fill his life with love, laughter and a scattered good-natured argument, his sisters-in-law Gertie Green and Lorraine Baker, brother-in-law Jacob Drover, and a large circle of nephews and nieces, family and friends, including the Whalen and Stringer Families. BROWN, Winston – Passed away after a courageous battle with cancer over the last three years, at G. B. Cross Hospital in Clarenville on May 22, 2021. He was 91 years of age. He was predeceased by his wife Lena Goobie and his parents George and Phoebe Goobie and four sisters and three brothers. GREEN, Cecilia (nee Lambert) – It is with broken hearts that the family of Cecilia Green of Hickman’s Harbour, age 82 announce her peaceful passing at the Health Science Complex, in St. John’s on July 12^th 2021. Cecilia passed in the loving arms of her family. Cecilia was born to Thomas and Emily Ann in Southport. She grew up surrounded by her large family until she had children of her own. Cecilia raised her children in Hickman’s Harbour and was soon blessed with many grand children and great grand children. Predeceased by loving husband Ingham, son Randy, grandson Tony, parents Thomas and Emily Ann, brothers George, Ebenezer, Cecil, Lester, Harvey, and sisters Mary and Susie. GREENING, Sarah Beatrice (nee Marsh) – Passed away peacefully at Lakeside Homes, Gander, on Saturday, November 6, 2021, Sarah Beatrice (Marsh) Greening, born December 7, 1929 at the age of 91 years. Predeceased by her mother, Minnie and father, Absolam Marsh of Hillview, NL; husband, James Greening, son, Lloyd McKinnon, and grandson Michael Drover; brothers Llewellyn and Avalon Marsh and sister Lydia Gosse. Left to mourn with loving memories; her sons Roy (Debbie), David (Dianne), Lorne (Tammie), 12 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Cremation has taken place according to her wishes. A family memorial service will be held in the summer of 2022 from Fewer’s Memorial Chapel, Clarenville, NL. Details to be published at a later date. A special thank you to the wonderful, caring and compassionate staff of Lakeside Homes, Gander. Donations in her memory may be made to the Clarenville SPCA. Sarah was a person with a huge heart; a person who loved her family beyond words. Besides working at Fewer’s Senior Home in Clarenville for many years and working as a custodian at the Terra Nova Integrated School Board (now called the English School District), she enjoyed her volunteer work at the GB Cross Memorial Hospital in Clarenville and walking her little dog Toby around the harbour every day when she lived in Shoal Harbour. One thing her family will attest to is that she made the BEST pineapple squares ever! One thing she never liked was the word “goodbye” but would always say “cheerio”. She will be forever missed and carried in our hearts. Cheerio till we meet again.

IVANY, Tracy A. – Passed peacefully away at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital, Tracy Alex Ivany (age 76) of Sunnyside, formerly of Deer Hr, Random Island.  Tracy is pre-deceased by parents Alonzo and Neta (Marsh) Ivany, and brother Cyril, father-in-law Eleazer Howse, mother-in-law Flora and brother-in-law Roy Howse; grandparents, Alexander and Elizabeth Marsh. John and Hilda Ivany, and uncle Otto Marsh.  He leaves to mourn his loving wife Valerie of 46 years (less one day); brothers Randolph (Gerri), Tony (Merriam); sisters, Linda Curtis (Ivan), Olive Lockyer (Calvin), Bernice Keeping (Sandy), Barbara Ivany (Sharon); sister in law, Pauline Ivany, and large number of nieces and nephews, and great friends.   Visiting hours will be on Wednesday, October 27, from 2:00 pm thru 4:00 pm. PEDDLE, Andrew David – August 22, 1946 – October 8, 2021 – It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Andrew David Peddle of Gooseberry Cove, Trinity Bay on Friday, October 8, 2021, at the G.B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville, NL at the age of 75. He was born and raised in Hodge’s Cove, NL. He is predeceased by parents William J. and Annie K. (Spurrell) Peddle, his wife Daisy (Avery) and son in law Christopher Forbes. Left with fond and loving memories, his wife, Sarah, his three dedicated daughters, Shelly Seward (Corey), granddaughters Emily and Samantha; Darlene Peddle and partner Larry Spurrell; Danielle Forbes, and granddaughters Hayleigh and Amber. He is also survived by his sister Elaine (John) Spurrell, brother Max (Florence) Peddle, brother Howard Peddle, sister Betty Brown, brother Joe (Doris) Peddle; sisters in law Margaret (Kevin) Norman, Mary Ellen (Bob) Evans, Dolores (Ray) Griffin, and Dot Erskine, stepson Joe (Sherry) Walsh, and stepdaughter Paula Walsh, as well as many other relatives and friends. Andrew served the Parish of the Holy Spirit as a lay minister for 57 years working closely with his friend the Reverend Myrna Vey and other clergy members. Remains resting at St. Alban’s the Martyr Church in Gooseberry Cove with visitation on Saturday, October 9 and Sunday, October 10 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. Visitation at St. Mary’s Church, Hodge’s Cove on Thursday, October 14 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. Funeral service on Friday, October 15 at St. Mary’s Church, Hodge’s Cove at 2 pm. RODRIGUE, Louise Sara Clarabel (nee Drodge) – pictured with her granddaughter, passed away on February 7, 2021 in Cornwall, Ontario. She was 86 years of age, she will be fondly remembered by family and many, many friends. Louise was a fixture in the local church communities, playing for services, weddings, and funerals. Louise loved to travel and being in the mist of friends, family and sometimes strangers. Louise was fearless in life. Sadly, she was predeceased by her husband Gilbert (Rod), her parents Albert and Florence Drodge, grandson Jacob(Elizabeth)brothers Bram(Dorothy), Roy (Melvie), Ralph (Audrey) and Albert (Christina), sisters Cassandra (Alfred) Drodge and Muriel (Eric) Stringer, nieces and nephews, all of which she never stopped loving, forgot or always longed for. She leaves to mourn her son Paul (Manon), grandson Samuel(Samantha), granddaughter Alexane (Matt Desjarlais), great-grandchildren Zachary and Eleanor, her sister and brother-in-law Carol and Walter Williams and sister-in-law Audrey Drodge along with many nieces, nephews and friends. SEWARD, Audrey Blanche – It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our dear loved one, Audrey Seward, who passed away peacefully at the GB Cross memorial Hospital, Clarenville, this morning April 27 2021, at the age of 68 years. Leaving to mourn her loving husband Graham Seward, her two sons Travis Seward (Nicole), Jody Seward (Connie), along with her grandchildren Marissa Seward, Mason Seward, Colby Seward and Danielle Piccott. She will be missed dearly by her only brother Herman Seward and her mother in law Jane Seward, as well as her many nieces and nephews and a large number of extended family and friends. Audrey was born March 23 1953. She spent a large portion of her life fishing alongside her husband where she was most content. She loved spending time with her large circle of friends and family, especially her grandchildren, who were her pride and joy! We would like to send a special thank you to the Doctors and Nurses at the GB Cross Memorial hospital for providing exemplary care to her. SMITH, Marlene Glenna Smith (nee Stewart) – Marlene passed peacefully away at her home in St. John’s surrounded by her loving family and friends. Predeceased by her father Douglas Stewart and leaving to mourn her loving husband Gerry, sons Douglas (Holly), Dustin (Andrea), mother Glenna, sister Cathy (Jeff), brothers Elliott and Don (Cheryl), in-laws Doris and Max, sister in laws Della (Dan) and Donna (Billy), special friends Darlene (Neville), Denise (Gim), Gloria (Jeff), Gail (Andre) and Doreen (Fred). She was loved from coast to coast, had a heart of gold and always put everyone ahead of herself. She deeply loved her family and friends and her dogs Guinness and Blue. TUCKER, Abram John (Jack) – Born January 1st 1933, passed away peacefully on May 22nd 2021 at the Caribou Memorial Veterans Pavilion in St. John’s. Jack grew up in St. Jones Within, Trinity Bay and left his boyhood home for St. John’s in his late teenage years. It was in St. John’s that he met the love of his life, Marion, who became his wife of 61 years. Jack and Marion married on November 4, 1954, and after living in Gander and Sydney NS, they settled back in St. John’s where they raised their family of three sons; Dwight, Derrick, and Dean. Jack was an extremely hard worker and provided for his family working for the Department of Transport for 35 years until he retired in 1990 and spent many enjoyable years in St. John’s and St. Jones Within with family and friends. The freedom of retirement gave Jack and Marion many opportunities to travel including visiting their sons in Western Canada and the Western U.S. Jack loved doing anything that involved being outdoors, whether in the woods or on the water. He also had a great love of music, and learned to play guitar in retirement. After Marion’s passing in 2015, she remained constantly in Jack’s heart and thoughts. Jack will be lovingly remembered by his three sons Dwight (Claudine Dessens) Tucker, Derrick (Renee Richter) Tucker, Dean (Kathy) Tucker and two grandchildren Hannah Tucker, Austin (Shayleen) Pisko and great-grandson Kallan. Jack is survived by his brother Silas (Pat) Tucker, and sisters Norma Vey, Cynthia (Tom) Hogan, Mary Bentley, sisters-in-law Janet Tucker and Rowie Hess, brothers-in-law Harry (Flo) Downey and Doug (Ruth) Downey and many cherished nieces, nephews and their families. Jack was predeceased by his parents Allan and Maude Tucker, sisters Gladys and Ruby, brothers David (Geneva) Tucker, Oliver Tucker and brothers-in-law Everett Vey and Ed Hess. A special thanks to Harry, Flo, Doug and Ruth for the time and care they dedicated to Jack over the last years of his life when COVID prevented his sons from being with him. The family would also like to thank the staff of the Caribou Memorial Veterans Pavilion Unit 2 for the wonderful care and attention they provided Jack in the time he spent at the facility during his last years. TURCHUK, Marko – Passed peacefully away at Dr. G B Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville on Tuesday, November 16, 2021, Marko Turchuk of Clarenville, age 79 years.  Predeceased by his parents Marko and Ephemia; sisters Elizabeth, Vera and Nadia; brothers William and Nicholas; parents-in law Levi and Mary Frost; brother-in-law Raymond Frost.  Left with fond and loving memories his wife Marie of 58 years; children Kimberly (Don) and Natalie (Eric); grandson Marko (Gabby); sisters-in-law Gladys Stoyles (Ross), Jeanette Martin (Ron) and Marie Frost; brother-in-law Rudy Frost (Rosalind); his nieces and nephews and a large circle of family and friends.  Cremation will take place as per his wishes.  A visitation will take place on Sunday, November 21, 2021 at Fewer’s Funeral Home, Clarenville from 2 – 4 p.m.  Memorial service will take place at a later date.  In his memory donations may be made to Hillview United Church.  The family would like to express a special thank you to his many homecare workers who took exceptional care of him this past year. Dad served with the Canadian Air Force for 35 years and participated in several peace keeping missions including Haiti and Rwanda.  He was a loving and doting husband, father and grandfather. VARDY, Major Annette Marguerite – Promoted to Glory, and welcomed into her heavenly home on November 3, 2021. Major Annette Marguerite Vardy (Retired SA) passed peacefully away at the Glenbrook Lodge, St. John’s with family by her side at the age of 103. She was affectionately known as Aunt Nette (pronounced Neat) by most of her family and friends. Born in Clarenville, NL on January 25, 1918 to George and Emily (Stanley) Vardy. Predeceased by her parents and her brothers Edgar (1958) and Wilson (1965); her sisters Mary (1983), Violet (2009) and Laura. She leaves to mourn her adopted daughter Lt-Colonel Leela Kale in India and a sister Lucy Williams in Florida; as well as several nieces, nephews and a large circle of family and friends. A life well lived! Major Annette’s story is a remarkable story of strength, determination, faith and love. At just 18 years old she was enrolled as a senior solider in the Salvation Army and entered into training in 1945. In her 30’s she went back to school and received her high school education. She would go on to also become a Registered Nurse and on to London, England where she became a Midwife. She served in Corps in NL, Alberta and Ontario and created memorable experiences and impacted the lives of so many people in those places. For 25 years she served in India working as a nurse in hospitals there. It was in India where she met Leela and raised her, her love of children shone through in the love that she had for Leela and others that she would meet and care for. In the 1980’s it was time for Annette to retire and move back to Newfoundland. Though retired she still volunteered her time working with the Salvation Army Thrift Stores, volunteering with the church she loved and continuing to help and care for others. Her life was one to be admired. She had met Mother Teresa, and people from all over the world. At age 101 she was welcomed into the Order of the Founder in the Salvation Army. The love that Annette had for her family, friends, those whom she met and animals of all kinds was inspiring. She was a true missionary example and demonstrated God’s love to all who were blessed to know her. Though there is so much more that can be said, there are no truer words to say than, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant” Resting at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue, St. John’s on Saturday November 6th from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Predeceased by her partner Stuart Roberts in 2019, parents William and Mary Vey, and sister Ella Peddle (Lloyd).  Lovingly remembered by brother Lloyd (Donna); sisters: Karen (Graham), and Kathy (Rod).
