GREEN, Adam – The community of New Perlican and surrounding area was shocked to hear of the sudden passing of Adam Green at his home in New Perlican, October 28 [1962]. Mr. Green was in his 76th year. Uncle Adam, as he was generally known, came to reside here from St. Jones Without, Trinity Bay ten years ago. He began fishing when 11 years of age and this year had completed 66 years in that occupation. He was a sincere friend to all who knew him, and many mourned at his passing. His was indeed a life of charity to all men. The funeral took place at New Perlican in St. Augustine’s Anglican Church, Oct. 28 [1962]. The officiant was Rev. H.M. Batten R.D., Parish Priest. The large attendance at the funeral, and the many floral tributes were evidence of the esteem in which Mr. Green was held in this settlement and elsewhere. The L.O.A., of which he was an honorary member, attended in a body. Interment was in the Anglican cemetery, New Perlican. The following out-of-town residents were here to attend the funeral: Mr. and Mrs. Jehu Green, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Green, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Green, Windros Banton, of Winterton, Trinity Bay; Mr. and Mrs. Eliol Green, John Green, Absalom Hiscock, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Thomas Pitcher, Cecil Pitcher, Edgar Pitcher, Albert Pitcher of Heart’s Content; Leander Green, Bertram Green, Melvin Green, of Sunnyside; George Stringer, Mr. and Mrs. Nehemiah Stringer, Mr. and Mrs. Eldred Drodge, George Strong, David Jacobs, of Little Heart’s Ease; Mr. and Mrs. Levi Stringer, Cyril Drodge of Adeytown; Mr. and Mrs. Theophilus Drodge, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Drodge, Raymond Green, Capt.
