Bloomfield edge’s Hodge’s Cove 5-4

Bloomfield took a 2-0 lead over Hodge’s Cove in the Trinity Bay Hockey League semi-final action here at the Clarenville Arena on Thursday night.

A sudden-death goal by Clar Parsons at the 3:33 mark of the ten minute over-time period accounted for a thrilling 5-4 win over Hodges Cove. The win gives Bloomfield a two game lead in the best of five “A” semi-finals for the right to advance into the finals against the winner of the “B” semis between Arnold’s Cove and Port Blandford.

Bloomfield took a two goal lead in first period, however, Hodges Cove came back with three unanswered goals in the second period to take a 3-2 lead in the hockey game. The game was tied at 4-4 at the end of regulation time, however, Parsons’ goal at the 3:33 mark gave Bloomfield the win.

Scoring for the winners were Clar Parsons and Don Lane with two goals each and Claven Butt added a single. The Hodges Cove markers were Levi Churchill, Bram Jacobs, Joe Stringer, and Wayne Drover.

A total of 12 minor penalties were called in the game by referee Lorne Smith, seven of them against the winners.

Bloomfield outshot Hodges Cove 47-39.
