While Samuel was working, his wife Sarah Ann Smith (1877-1957) and their children lived at Northern Bight Station. As the family got older some of the children married and moved to nearby North West Brook.
When Samuel retired from the railway he was presented with a clock which became one of his most prized possessions.
Samuel Warren passed away on 9 July 1950 at North West Brook and his body was taken to Chance Cove for burial. After his death, Sarah Ann moved to Chance Cove where she lived with family. She passed away on 12 October 1957 and was buried beside her husband in the Anglican Cemetery, Chance Cove.
