Daniel Shaw, formerly of Little Heart’s Ease. Trinity Bay. where his parents still reside.
Mr. Shaw was overseas during the war in “D” company.
He left home about four years ago. and has since been engaged at structural iron work. At present he is working on the new Statler Hotel.
Three years ago he visited Bay of Islands on the yacht “Cosso” belonging to a Boston millionaire, L. M. Crane.
His brother Peter left here by the S. S. Newfoundland last week to visit his parents, who will probably return with him.

James Shaw, son of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Shaw, of Heart’s Ease. Trinity Bay. Mr. Shaw left home three years ago, and has since been engaged at carpenter work. He Is living now at 282 K St., South Boston.

Sad Drowning
News of a sad drowning accident reached Capt. Wm. Winsor, Minister of Marine and Fisheries today from William Flynn, Gooseberry Cove, via Hillview, T. B.:
“Sad drowning accident here today. Moses Seward and grandson drowned. Bodies not yet recovered.”– Daily Globe.

Notes of Newfoundland Societies

The regular monthly meeting of the N. M. B. A. was held in St. Rose Hall, Worcester St., Boston, on Tuesday evening, May 4th. President Francis Hynes was in the chair. The application of Bernard F. Cullen, 17 Farragut Ave., Medford, was received and he will be initiated at the next meeting.

The committee appointed to perfect arrangements for the annual Newfoundland picnic reported that the picnic this year will surpass all previous events and they will announce at a very early date where the picnic will be held. Edward J. Molley, Chairman of the visiting committee, reported he had paid out $255 in the month of April as sick and death benefits.  President Francis Hynes appointed the following committee to assist him in bringing about an increase in membership:  Daniel Shaw, James Rumsey, John Bolger, Denis Raftus and Brother Yeo.

The Picnic Committee headed by President Hynes held a meeting after adjournment of the regular meeting of the Association and voted to hold the picnic on July 4th if a suitable location can be secured. Brothers M. E. Mullowney, R. H. Tait and R. Sommerville are looking up a location and will report their finding at the next meeting of the committee. -Com.
