The Loss of the Llewellyn

John Vey of Long Beach built the 41 ton schooner, Llewellyn, in 1880. This schooner (registration number S1880075) was built at Random Island according to Ship and Seafarers of Atlantic Canada. She had one deck, two masts, was 58 feet long, 19 feet wide, 8 feet deep and had gross tonnage of 41 and net tonnage of 39. Her official closure year was 1882; she was lost at sea on the Newfoundland Coast. John is listed as the Captain of Llewellyn in the Index to Newfoundland Captains, 1820-1889.
