Mr. Joseph Morris
Dear Sir,
As poor Alender is passed away I am very sorry to hear of his death, I extend my greatest sympathy. Well Mr. Morris I must tell you that I have given up my claim of the British Empire. Well I suppose you are the man that I must write to now, as I know you understand all about this business. I sold my part of her to Simeon and Herbert John Vey. As I have nothing to do with her now no claim on her whatever. Please clear out Simeon Vey, Master, as they are going to St. John’s with a freight, “A load of fish.” They want everything secured in the sceem(?) concerning the schooner as I am left her. By so doing you will oblige yours truly.
William James Vey
Simeon and Herbert J Vey, Brothers
Master and owners off the schr British Empire
