Page 25- Hatchet Cove

  • The marriage of Selina Peddle of Hodge’s Cove, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Josiah Peddle, to Alex Lambert, son of Mr. and Mrs. Malcolm Lambert of Hatchet Cove, took place on December 22nd at Hodge’s Cove. The ceremony was performed by Rev. Ethridge. Daphne Peddle, sister of the bride, was maid of honour and the bridesmaids were- Mrs. Wesley Lambert, Mrs. Gordon Drover, Mrs. David tucker. Nelson Lambert, brother of the groom, was the best man, assisted by Wesley Lambert, Harvey Price and James Peddle.
  • Mrs. Eliah Bundon has returned home from Gander Hospital where she was a patient.
  • Ruby Bishop has returned home following a stay of three and a half months at the General Hospital. She will return later for plastic surgery.
  • The following celebrated wedding anniversaries: Mr. and Mrs. Benoi Robbins – 41st on December 18th; Mr. and Mrs. Nathanial Smith – 40th on December 29th; Mr. and Mrs. Malcolm Lambert – 35th on December 29th
  • Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Robbins visited Winterland.
  • The Blundon Brothers visited their parents at Hatchet Cove.

Mrs. Miriam Martin of Little Heart’s Ease and son Neil, were guests of her daughter Priscilla, Mrs. Phil Marsh. Also visiting her during the holidays were her three brothers and their families.

Page 40 – Is this a Record?

Congratulations are being extended to Mr. and Mrs. Eleazer Robbins of Hatchet Cove on their 72nd wedding anniversary.

They were married by Rev. Peck at St. Jones Within. Mr. Robbins is 93 and his wife is 91. They had four sons, three daughters, 39 grandchildren. Both are in good health and still active around their home.

 

Page 46 – Southport

  • Engagement – The Engagement has been announced of Sadie Margaret, daughter of Mrs. Blanche and the late Norman Smith of Southport, to Wayne, son of Mr. and Mrs. Elmo Small of Summerfort. Wedding date to be announced later.
  • Lawrence Smith has returned to Labrador City where he is employed after spending the holidays with his family.
  • Blanch Smith and her sister Joan visited their parents Mr. and Mrs. Levi Smith Jr.

 

Page 48 – Wedding Anniversaries

  • Mr. and Mrs. Alex Vey were married two years on December 30th.
  • Mr. and Mrs. Malcolm Vey celebrated their 27th on January 4th.

Mrs. Lucy Martin and family of Little Heart’s Ease wish to thank all those who helped at the time of her tragic loss when her husband died as a result of a motor accident on November 6th; also for remembering them at Christmas time.
