Page 30 – Hatchet Cove

  • A stock shower was held last month at the home of Mrs. Benj Robbins for Mrs. Robbins. 16 guests attended the shower. Tea was served and a very enjoyable evening was spent by all.
  • Celebrating birthdays in November were Belinda Smith, 2nd; Mrs. Benoni Robbins, 12th; Wayne Lambert, 23rd; Joan Smith, 29th; and Roy Smith on 20th.
  • Home to spend Christmas with her parents is Beulah, Mrs. Elijah Genge and family from Anchor Point, Flowers Cove. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Bishop.
  • Some of the men of Hatchet Cove have been successful in hunting this season. Russell Bishop, Roy Smith and Freeman Curtis got two moose in over the Trans Canada. John Bishop, Harvey Bishop, Harrison and Albert Lambert, Lawrence Bishop, Clayton Lambert and George Hillyard each got one.
  • Selina Lambert is gone to St. John’s with her brother Melvin Peddle to receive treatment at the Janeway Hospital. We all wish them a speedy recovery.

Mr. and Mrs. Cyril Thomas, Hodge’s Cove are pleased to announce the engagement of their eldest daughter Alice Geraldine to Mr. Winston Douglas Avery son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Avery, Deep Bight. Wedding date to be announced later.
