Page 18 – Boat Launched in Clarenville

Mr. Lewis Spurrell, formerly of Little Heart’s Ease, who has been living in Clarenville for the past 6 years, recently launched his boat in lower Clarenville. The long liner was built according to a blue print by Mr. Spurrell himself, and measures 38’ long, 11 ½’ wide and 4 ½’ deep and took a year to construct. Mr. Spurrell says he intends to go fishing in the boat which is named Eldon Lewis. We wish him every success in this very worthy enterprise.

Loreburn

  • On May 22nd a 38 foot long liner was launched at Loreburn. She is owned by Hubert Meadus and son Hector who wishes to thank all kind friends of Little Heart’s Ease, Loreburn and St. Jones Within and Hillview and Mr. James Critch and son, who gave him a helping hand. She was named by Hubert’s mother, Mrs. Caleb Meadus a grand old lady of 82 years (who is enjoying good health) and was called the Vera Cora & Clyde. His brother also launched a 38’ long liner last November named the Wilfred and Lindo.
  • I suppose the little place called Loreburn will soon be only a place of memories as we all have to go. Five families are leaving soon to reside at St. Jones Within.

Page 46 – In Memoriam

In fond and loving memory of a dear husband and father Wm. Martin, Little Heart’s Ease, who died on June 30th, 1965.

Days of sadness still come o’er us
Tears in silence often flow,
For memory keeps you ever near us
Though you died two years ago.

Beyond the sunset you have gone
To a wonderful Heaven of rest;
Two years ago God made this plan
For you, He thought was best.

It’s lonely here without you
I miss you more each day
For life is not the same to me,
Since you were called away.

A cluster of beautiful memories
Sprayed with a million tears;
Wishing God had spared you
For many more happy years.

But some day we’ll meet again
Beyond the toil and strife
And clasp each other’s hand again
In Heaven, that happy life.

Always remembered by his wife Miriam and son Roy.

Page 57 – In memoriam

In fond and loving memory of a dear father William Martin, Little Heart’s Ease.

Though your smile has gone forever
And your hand we cannot touch,
We have so many memories of you Dad
We loved so much.
A loving father true and kind
Missed by those he left behind
Forget him, no, we never will
As years roll by we love him still.
