Page 28 – Hatchet Cove
- Mr. Benomi Robbins received a very painful accident from working on a scaffold from which he fell and broke his leg. All his friends wish him a speedy recovery.
- Mrs. Gertie Bishop was the patient at the Walwyn Hospital for a few days. She is now home feeling much better.
- A baby boy was born at the Walwyn Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Harrison Lambert and was given the name Lorne.
- A stork shower was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Smith for Mrs. Smith on the 7th of April. Gifts were opened by Evelyn Bishop, games were played, tea served, and a very enjoyable evening was spent by all.
- Birthday greetings are extended to Diane Lambert -6th and Malcolm Bishop – 22.

- Your correspondent, Mrs. Minnie Robbins, has been ill with the measles recently. She says she never wants to ever hear of them again. Hope things are o.k. now Minnie.
- Mr. and Mrs. Henry Robbins and baby Lisa along with John Robbins and Eddie King left for Toronto on April 15. They are motoring to their destination.
- Edgar Holloway is now working at Churchill Falls.
- The members of the UCW wish to thank those who sent donations and those who attended their supper and sale on April 9.
- Deepest sympathy is extended to Mrs. Alice King and family on the death of her daughter Mrs. Cyril Locke, St. John’s.
- May birthdays: 1st Eliab Robbins, the 14th Gilbert King, the 20th Barbara King and Mrs. Edgar Holloway and Diane King will celebrate her 4th birthday.
- Mr. and Mrs. Guy King recently spent awhile at Gander and Hickman’s Harbour.
- David Tucker is home from Churchill Falls where he has been working.
- Mrs. Naomi Price, Hillview visited her sister Mrs. Laura Miller.
- Mr. and Mrs. Chesley Tucker and family visited Mr. and Mrs. Wm. John King during the Easter holidays.
- Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Ivany, St. John’s visited with Mr. and Mrs. David Benson.
- Mr. and Mrs. James Brown and their two boys have moved into their new bungalow.
- Mrs. Herbert Meadus held a birthday party for her daughter Vera on April 17. Nine children attended. Sharon Tucker opened the gifts and Nellie Brown read the cards.
- Walter Butt, Clarenville recently visited Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Robbins.
- Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Power, St. John’s spent a recent weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Alphaeus King.
- Mr. and Mrs. Buster and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Armstrong, all of Sudbury, Ontario, along with Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Seaward, Clarenville all visited Mr. and Mrs. Allen Tucker.
- Mr. and Mrs. Otto King will celebrate their 16th wedding anniversary on May 14; Mr. and Mrs. Wm. King will celebrate their 17th anniversary on the 26th. Mr. and Mrs. Ariel King, Gander will celebrate their anniversary on May 2.
- A baby shower was held for Mrs. Edgar Holloway at her home on April 23. Games were played and prizes won. The gifts were opened by Miss Alma Legge and the cards read by Miss Vivian March. Seventeen ladies were present. Lunch was served and an enjoyable time had by all.
- Three longliners owned by Harold Tucker, Isaac Holloway, and Otto and Bill King are now fishing at Twillingate.
