NOTES FROM OUR CORRESPONDENTS

Queen’s Cove

Andrew Butt returned from a business trip to St. John’s on Monday night’s train.

Captain C. Barbour of St. John’s, is at present visiting his daughter, Mrs. C. M. Button, here.

Abram Spurrell and sons, Cecil and Edmund, left by Wednesday night’s train for Terra Nova, where they will obtain work in the lumber woods.

John Goobie, Chesley Goobie and Baxter Gosse left for Deer Lake last week to work in the lumber woods.

Eleazor Gosse and Roland Goobie left by Wednesday night’s train for Terra Nova to engage in the logging industry.

Miss Ruby Smith, Hillview, is spending few days here, as the guest of Miss Delilah Whelan.

Lester Gregory returned from St. John’s last Friday. Whilst in St. John’s he attended the wedding of his sister Florence to Chesley Strong of Clarenville.

Word has been received of the serious illness of Marjorie Button, sister of CM. Button, at Neurological Hospital, Montreal. Marjorie has been teaching in Montreal for the past two years.

Dr. Coxon visited here during the week on professional business.

Congratulations are extended to Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Barfitt of Long Beach on the birth of a daughter during the week, and to Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Barfitt on the birth of a son.

Norman Giles returned from Deer Lake last week where he had been employed all the winter.

Inspector C. M. Button, R.O. visited Clifton, T. B., during the week.

Cal Meadus returned from St. John’s by Wednesday night’s train, and is at present staying with his daughter Mrs. Chesley Goobie.

Chesley and Doris Drodge spent last night here, enroute to Little Heart’s Ease, they left by the mail boat this morning.

A pancake party was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. F. Norris, North West Brook, on Shrove Tuesday, and a most enjoyable time was had by all who attended.

Reverend George Pike of Hillview arrived here on Saturday, and held divine service in the United Church on Sunday morning.

Nelson House returned home from overseas Monday night. Nelson was in the Royal Navy for the past five or six years. Glad to see you back Nelson.
