Note: Moses Martin refloated the Annie S. Clarke and repaired the vessel. He renamed her the Eldon John Russell. In 1957 the vessel was sold to a William J. Vaters of Frenchman’s Cove, Bay of Islands. Mr. Vaters decided to put an engine in the vessel. He did this by removing part of the stern, keel and rudder. He used her for a number of years, both in the fishery and as a cargo vessel. She was lost off Larkin’s Point, Bay of Islands, January 18, 1960 while carrying a load of lumber to the mainland.
