  • During the weekend of March 2nd I visited Montreal – had a splendid weekend. My mother Mrs. Mildred Vey and Clyde joined me in Montreal and we came back on Monday. They are both staying for a while. At least Clyde is, but as far as Mildred is concerned, it wouldn’t surprise me in the least if she told me she was off to England. Seems this past 18 months or so she must have some sort of worm, can’t stay put for no longer than four months the most.
  • Ralph and Delores (Vey) Turner were mighty surprised when the twin didn’t arrive, but let me tell you a gorgeous little 7 lb. 13 oz. girl made her appearance on the 21st of March – both baby Cheryl and Delores are out of the hospital and doing very well
  • Lew Marsh will be leaving to go on holidays sometime this month – don’t have the foggiest notion where he will be heading.
  • Herb Stanford visited his mother in Hillview just recently – a very good trip and is now back to work in Labrador City.
  • In the not too distant future, Cynthia Tucker of St. Jones Within will be making her way to the altar to tie the knot. Good Luck Cindy!
  • At this time, I would like to say a special “Hello” to the Vey family of Hillview – I am sorry I was late for your birthday, Chester. Hope Perry is feeling much better now.

Page 14 – Ladies explore Stoyles’ Country

The first time in the history of Hillview that women ever explored the interior of Stoyles’ Country was in March of this year. Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Frost of Hillview and Mr. and Mrs. Hedley Gosse of Queen’s Cove spent a weekend in a log cabin, thirty-eight miles in Stoyles’ Country. They started on skidoos by way of Northern Bight. On reaching the cabin, which has been used occasionally for big game hunters, they found everything in good condition, with stove, bunks and seats. They spent a very enjoyable weekend, and, as a witness that these two women were there, they left a copy of The Random Guardian with their names written on it. Mrs. Frost says the country was very beautiful even with everything covered with snow, and they are hoping to visit there again some time in the future.
